Storage (Except Controlled Atmosphere & Cold) FSSAI License

These are the places where food products (packed or unpacked) are stored and then distributed further. These facilities are also called warehouses or go downs. FSSAI Trading License for these facilities can be classified into three categories;

• Those with a capacity of more than 50,000 MT
• Those with a capacity of less than 50,000 MT, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs.

Storage (Cold/ Refrigerated/ Controlled Atmosphere) FSSAI License

Cold/Refrigerated Storage is a facility where frozen food products are stored within a particular area and then the frozen food products are distributed further. FSSAI Trading License for these facilities can also be classified into three categories such as:

• Those with a capacity of more than 10,000 MT
• Those with a capacity of less than 10,000 MT, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs

Controlled atmosphere storage is another type of storage facility where food products (packed or unpacked) are stored under a certain atmospheric condition for further distribution.

Wholesaler FSSAI License

Wholesalers are the distributors that purchase the food products in bulk and then sell it to multiple retailers or resellers instead of selling them to the consumers. There are three categories of wholesalers for the FSSAI Trading License;

• Those with an annual turnover of more than INR 30 Crores
• Those with an annual turnover between INR 12 Lakhs to INR 30 Crores, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs.

Distributor FSSAI License

Distributors are the individuals or businesses that purchase food products from the manufacturers and distribute them to the retailers or directly to the consumers. FSSAI License for Distributors is divided into three categories:

• Those with an annual turnover of more than INR 20 Crores
• Those with an annual turnover between INR 12 Lakhs to INR 20 Crores, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs.

Supplier FSSAI License

Suppliers are that part of the distribution channel that provides food products to the consumers according to their unique requirements. Suppliers can also be classified into three categories for the FSSAI Trading License

• Those with an annual turnover of more than INR 20 Crores,
• Those with an annual turnover between INR 12 Lakhs to INR 20 Crores, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs.

Marketer FSSAI License

The role of a marketer is to promote the food products of a specific brand in the market and create awareness about the brand among the consumers. Marketers are also divided into three categories for FSSAI Trading License

• Those with an annual turnover of more than INR 20 Crores
• Those with an annual turnover between INR 12 Lakhs to INR 20 Crores, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs.

Transportation FSSAI License

Transporters are involved in the transportation of food products (packed or unpacked) to different locations in vehicles or containers. For the FSSAI Trading License, transporters can be classified into three categories;

• Those having over 100 commercial vehicles or with an annual turnover of more than INR 30 Crores,
• Those having less than 100 commercial vehicles or an annual turnover of less than INR 30 Crores
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs.

Retailer FSSAI License

Retailers purchase the food products (packed or unpacked) from wholesalers, distributors, or directly from the manufacturers and sell them to the consumers. The classification of retailers for FSSAI Trading License is:

• Those with an annual turnover of more than INR 20 Crores
• Those with an annual turnover between INR 12 Lakhs to INR 20 Crores, and
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs

Food Vending Agencies FSSAI License

Food Vending Agencies are involved in the selling of fresh or packaged food products from a vending machine operated by an individual or automatically. FSSAI Trading License for Food Vending Agencies can be classified into three categories:

• Those having more than 100 vending machines in one state or vending machines in multiple states
• Those having less than 100 vending machines in one state
• Those with an annual turnover of less than INR 12 Lakhs or less than 12 vending machines in one state
